We have included Houston travel information that is relevant to making your travel and stay more pleasant for the 2025 SK Lone Star Cup. This includes how to navigate to the Bayou Rifles Addicks Range, Mexico SKLSC Letters of Invitation for Firearms Export, your Houston airport options, hotel & lodging options, links to things to do & shopping in Houston.
There is no better location in the entire Southern US for hosting the SK Lone Star Cup than at Bayou Rifles Inc. in Houston, Texas. Here are the top (5) primary benefits:
- Bayou Rifles Inc. is one of the oldest and largest gun clubs in the Southern US. Bayou Rifles holds many large championship matches in other disciplines and has an established silhouette program. The silhouette range can currently accommodate 96 smallbore shooters and 24 benchrest silhouette shooters with (4) relays and with a bit more investment can expand to 152 total shooters on (4) relays in the future.
- Houston is within the epicenter for silhouette matches in the NASSA South Center Region and regularly draws silhouette shooters for the Texas State Smallbore Silhouette Match from all surrounding Southern US States and Northern Mexico.
- There is plenty of shopping, dining and other things to see and do in Houston to incentivize families to come to the SKLSC. This is in stark contrast to the “Southern Nationals” in Winnsboro, LA.
- For US shooters traveling in from states further away, Houston is easy to fly into and should attract many top silhouette shooters to travel to the SKLSC.
- For Mexican shooters, Houston is probably the best, cheapest and easiest US location to travel to and enjoy what it has to offer. This is based on many, many discussions Daniel Salazar and Chris Cawthorne have had with our Mexican shooting friend leading up to the 2025 Inaugural SKLSC.
Bayou Rifles Inc. (BRI) Addicks Range Location
The Bayou Rifles Addicks Range is located at 1300 N. Eldridge Parkway in Houston Texas. It is located in the Houston Addicks Reservior as shown in the arial view to the left.
The Addicks Range was built in approximately 1952 in the Addicks Reservoir, and the BRI works closely with the Corp of Engineers (COE) to maintain this range location for its silhouette shooting sports. Bayou Rifles is well known in Texas and the nation for its Metallic Silhouette program in the small bore rifle, air rifle, and lever action rifle disciplines.
Bayou Rifles is also well established as a national force in High Power Rifle competitions. With a 1,000 yard range and the numerous shooting venues available, Bayou Rifles is generally regarded as the premier shooting facility anywhere on the Gulf coast.
Traveling From Mexico – SKLSC Letter of Invitation
The SK Lone Star Cup (SKLSC) is a 160-shot .22lr Sillhouette Standard Rifle match only. The intent is to encourage more cross-border participation by our Mexican silhouette shooting friends at the SKLSC who do not own Hunter-class rifles.
The 2025 SKLSC dates of June 7-8 were specifically chosen to be within 3 months of the NRA National SB Silhouette Championships so that Mexican shooters can possibly use one firearm export permit for both matches.
For our Mexican friends, please contact SKLSC Match Director Chris Cawthorne should you need an individual invitation letter (example as shown to the left) for your firearm export permits.
